seriously, what is this baby’s deal?  i can’t keep him in pants that fit!  he went from my smallest baby at birth to my biggest by the time he was 6 months old, and it seems he does nothing but grow out of all his clothes.  pants are the main problem.  WELL I’LL SHOW HIM.

i really like how his lumberjack layette pants fit and they seem so cozy.  i thought the style would look cool with jeans-esque topstitching, and they’re fun to sew, so i just went ahead and made another pair.

bento tee in stripes

ALRIGHT!  i was kind of on a roll with sewing some clothes for myself through the summer, but got sidetracked with kid sewing this fall.  that’s cool, it was fun and all, but the seasons have changed and i’ve got a bunch of things i want to make myself.  i started quick and easy, with this shirt.

this is one of the new Liesl + Co. patterns, the Bento Tee.  i tested the kid version of this pattern (the Lunchbox Tee, which comes with culottes), and the shirt I made is actually shown in the pattern introduction post – on Miss S herself!  what a thrill!  anyway, Oliver + S pattern testing is a pretty sweet gig – they pay their pattern testers and offer them a pattern of their choice, so i picked the Bento Tee.

archvillain for STYLO 3

any good detective has a nemesis out there, just one step ahead and always hatching evil plots.  for STYLO i knew i wanted to make two looks, and i thought it would be really interesting to have the same kid playing both roles.  whereas my detective look was classic, i wanted the villain look to be fashion-forward.  i wanted a dramatic silhouette and to push the envelope a bit.

my villain resides in an ultramodern lair on top of a mountain.  she is shadowy, angular, cunning.  i used basic patterns sewn in new ways with interesting fabrics, and made a few accessories to complete the look.  but oh man, the location was the icing on the cake!
