the comfy summerwear separates just keep happening! i had the idea to make this shirt and post it along with my last one, but ran out of sewing time.

aaaand i’m back with more self sewing! pattern testing this time, for my friend Kelli of True Bias. I’m a big fan of Kelli’s – i was fortunate to have her as a guest for vintage may this year, and my intro for her links to my many favorite past Kelli projects. she has a comfortable yet fashionable style that i enjoy very much, so when she asked if i’d test her hudson pant pattern, i was totally in.
the hudson pant is a stylish lounge pant, which you can make ankle or calf length. it being summer, i made the calf-length, though for some reason i made them in a somewhat heavy sweatshirt knit (?). haha they’re multi seasonal, right? Continue reading

watercolor & watermelon swimsuit
i didn’t get around to doing a 2013 recap / 2014 goal setting post this year like i’ve done in the past, but if i had, it would’ve likely said to “tackle a few new things i’ve never sewn before.” i love pushing my skills bit by bit…and swimwear was definitely on that “never done it, want to!” list, like jeans and my first zip fly were!

this is the cosi swimsuit, a brand spankin’ new pattern from Suz at Sew Pony – i just couldn’t wait to sew it up! the pattern goes from size 6 months to 10 years and there are a bunch of different views included in the pattern (seven!) but i chose a pretty basic version as my first attempt at swimwear – view C, which is a halter suit with leg ruffles. squee! leg ruffles! gold polka dot foldover clutch
i made this little purse for my sister for mother’s day…but i’m just getting around to blogging it now. meh, happens sometimes. come to think of it, i still need to blog E’s 6th birthday party too…May was super busy and June hasn’t been any slower so far!
it’s a little foldover clutch i made using my own tutorial (which i had to refer back to a couple times, haha). i made it out of a scrap of natural cotton duck from the portside duffle i made my brother-in-law for Christmas. it’s nice and sturdy, i really like sewing with that stuff. i got it in the outdoor fabric section at JoAnn.
