striped julia cardigan in britex knit

The changing of the more “extreme” seasons to the more “transitional” ones always causes me to want to refresh.  And after a nice and toasty summer around here, I’m excited for it to be cardigan and jeans weather again.  So, for my latest project as a Britex Blogger, I chose this great heathered gray and navy stripe cotton knit to make a lightweight cardigan to ease me into fall.

The pattern I used is the Julia Cardigan by Mouse House Creations.  The collar of the Julia Cardigan is what drew me to it – it’s a flattering shawl style, which I thought would look great with the striped, drapey knit that I chose.  It’s one of those designs that seems to look good on everyone!   Continue reading

make it perfect pattern parade: nani iro shearwater kaftan & giveaway!

FINALLY!  a lovely double gauze garment just for me!

i’ve bought double gauze fabric a few times, and i’ve always ended up using it for those pesky kids.  haha.  i actually intended on making something for E with this too, but it was just perfect for my next self-sewing project….even though i had only 1.5 yards of it, about half a yard less than the pattern calls for.  there was a lot of planning before i cut.

aaaand i’m back with more self sewing!  pattern testing this time, for my friend Kelli of True Bias.  I’m a big fan of Kelli’s – i was fortunate to have her as a guest for vintage may this year, and my intro for her links to my many favorite past Kelli projects.  she has a comfortable yet fashionable style that i enjoy very much, so when she asked if i’d test her hudson pant pattern, i was totally in.

the hudson pant is a stylish lounge pant, which you can make ankle or calf length.  it being summer, i made the calf-length, though for some reason i made them in a somewhat heavy sweatshirt knit (?).  haha they’re multi seasonal, right? Continue reading
