sweetheart dress pattern and giveaway

have i got some sweet stuff for you today!

sweetheart dress

i was recently lucky enough to pattern test the newest pattern by the lovely and talented shannon of luvinthemommyhood, which was just released yesterday!  it’s called the sweetheart dress, and it’s the perfect dress for a girly little gal like mine.  it’s a quick, fun sew, featuring a fully lined bodice with the cutest heart cutout in the back, and a gathered skirt for twirling.  it’s a dress that’s great for comfy day-to-day wear, but has tons of style!

sweetheart dress

i sewed it in sarah jane’s find the narwhal fabric from her out to sea line,  and i’ve decided it’s pretty much the cutest fabric ever.  Em calls the narwhals “unicorn whales,” and i’m not correcting her.  they ARE unicorn whales!  the fabric itself is quilting cotton, but with a really nice drape and feel.

shannon’s pattern is great, and i even learned how to line a bodice in a way that i had never tried before.  it’s always fun to learn something new when i sew!  it came together nicely and i was excited to make a dress that i knew Em would love.

the pattern includes sizes 2-6.  though it’s a PDF pattern and i know some people aren’t so fond of those, it actually requires no taping!  NONE!  just print the three page pattern, cut it out, and get sewing.

i just think between the heart cutout and the pink narwhal fabric, this dress pure confection.  you probably need this sweet little pattern for KCWC next week, right?  well…i can help with that!

What a cute little dress! it would be perfect for my little girl called Mika for the december months in a cute fairytale like fabric from Kiyohara. A part from the christmas holidays she will celebrate her third birthday on december 24th!! So that is exactly what I am exited about when the season is changing!

Unicorn whales? That is the most perfect description ever!
And I’m most looking forward to breaking out our down comforter. Oh how I love snuggling under it every night!
    PS – I actually love PDF patterns….I can’t be the only one…

Your dress came out absolutely adorable, and I can do see why Em would like it. My girls would be all after it, too! It was great to see the narwhal fabric in action–it’s so cute! I’ve been debating whether to get it or not, and seeing it on Em has decided me. The girls love the mermaid fabric already, I think I’ll just *have* to get both. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway! Can’t wait to see what you’ll sew

Your dress came out so cute! I adore that fabric, and it’s one of my favorites from Out To Sea. Soooo cute. It makes a great little dress too! I was also thinking that the anchors would make a cute croquet dress. Especially paired with some stripes.

Obviously if this giveaway happens to land on me, you should find another winner. ^_^

The sweetheart dress is absolutely beautiful (helps that the model is a cutie too!). It’s coming into spring here in Australia and my 5.5year old girl would adore this dress. I like the cowls on the website, but this dress is definitely the stand out dress. Thank you for giving us the chance to win this, unfortunately I don’t have facebook but if I did, I would have ‘liked’ you ages ago.

Beautiful dress! I’d love to win the pattern! Fall is by far my favorite season. I’m so excited that’s it has started cooling down. I’m in Texas, where it sometimes doesn’t feel like fall till winter. I love the cool weather (and the clothes we get to wear…warm colors, sweaters and boots!). I also love picking up pecans and listening to the crows!!

  16. Talia says:

One of your australian followers here! So I can’t really comment about the changing of YOUR seasons but ours are rapidly closing on summer. An australian summer is hot hot hot especially in my little corner of it. This little dress would be a perfect breezey addition to my little girls wardrobe!

  17. Talia says:

And I really like the Mallory cowl as it seems even someone as knitting challenged as I – love doing it just not so good at it – could make a success of that one.

  18. Tanja says:

I live in Africa, so the seasons are different, but what i love about right now is the cool nights that actually allow me to sleep with a blanket!

  19. hungie gungie says:
